1 John 4:19 tells us “We love because he first loved us”. In my grandparents’ day the phrase We. Because. He. was commonly seen on walls and in homes of Christian families. It is a great little reminder and summary of why we love … but it goes further than that. The same could be applied to all areas of the gospel and life. For example:
“We can give generously, because he has given so generously to us”, or
“We can know forgiveness because he has paid the price for our sin”
This Autumn term we are going to consider and remind ourselves why the gospel changes us, as well as how. It is about enjoying what God has done for us and then living it out in the people we are in our church and community as we think about themes like forgiveness, hope, generosity, freedom. We. Because. He.
