For us, Christmas is a special time of the year as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, who was to become the Christ. We invite you to leave the business of present wrapping and food buying for a while, and wonder at this Christ-child with us.
Sunday 16th December, 10.30am – Nativity Service
For many, one of the highlights of the run up to Christmas is seeing the children get involved in a special service where they recreate the nativity in their own way. Join us for our Nativity Service led by our Sunday morning kids groups, from 10.30am till about noon, with hot drinks and mince pies served afterwards.
Sunday 16th December, 6.00pm – Carols by Candlelight
Another very popular event is when we turn out most of the church’s electric lights and join together in singing popular and modern carols that celebrate the coming of Jesus, and remember the scriptural passages that describe these events of more than 2000 years ago. We continue afterwards with hot drinks and mince pies.
Sunday 23rd December, 10.30am – Christmas Café
On the last Sunday before Christmas our morning service takes a different form, with a much more informal approach and the opportunity to enjoy time together in the midst of the service. The children go away for their Christmas parties.
Sunday 23rd December, from 3pm – Carols in the Community
We’ll be singing carols as part of our exercise to get to know the community around the Vandyke School area on Sunday afternoon, starting at 3pm at Appenine Way.
Monday 24th December, 11.30pm – Watchnight service
See the start of Christmas morning together as we sing and remember the birth of Jesus.
Tuesday 25th December, 10am-10.45am – Christmas morning family service
We celebrate Christmas together as a family in this short service, giving thanks for all the good gifts we’ve received, but in particular in the giving of Jesus.
In addition we welcome to our premises the local Scouts and Guides, plus groups from Greenleas (Kestrel Way) and Beaudesert Lower Schools who will hold their Carol services, Christingles and festive celebrations in our church. Members of these groups will receive information direct. These are, of course, not open to the general public!
